Which soldier got his head blown off?

The one that was laying on the beach with no head and Doc was trying to figure out who he was? I think it was Galvan? Am I right?

It was the good looking, all american guy. He seemed to be the sharpest knife of the bunch, and the most motivated, and got killed before he ever even saw the enemy, oh the irony.

I remember a VC soldier gets his head blown off by a machine gun.

It was Galvan, the good looking soldier and the most intelligent one of the bunch. It goes to show you that you can be the sharpest one in the group, but Chance is a b itch when it comes to War.

And that scene with the VC soldier getting his head blown off was amazing. Just a bunch of chunks left shown.

It was the dude who said that corny @ss line when they were fighting, "We're airborne".

"Two weeks ago, I said I was gonna be here in two weeks and that was two weeks ago."

"Galvan, get down!!!"

Everytime I have watched this movie, I've been trying to figure out what happened to that "we're airborne" guy.

I was told he got his head blown off, but didn't know where about in the movie it was, but finaly tracked it down here. It was very early in the movie, wasn't it?

I was always hoping he had a girl-screaming scene where he died or something.

It was Galvan i think, whoever played that character was a terrible actor.

To be fair he didn't have much chance to do much with the character.

But it gave Doc one of the best lines, and performances, in any war film, ever.

"How the hell am I supposed to identify these people !!"

reply

He ain't got no head.

Just saw the movie last night and also wondered as the film concluded, when exactly Galvan died. I thought i'd missed it as throughout the movie there are a number of the more recognisable actors who are killed and wounded and the plot moves on very quickly without you really digesting what has happened. Was thinking later that this good looking, patriotic all-American boy getting his head blown off before even firing his weapon in combat was another poignant statement made in the film and highlighting once again the horrible waste of that conflict.

He was the one who got his head blown off. Also the same person who broke up the fight.
