100 Min Version

Any body know what this is? I just got the MGM DVD and it was only 97 minutes....What's the deal?

The DVD runs 96 minutes. The soft image and the occasional ghosting (an artifact) leads me to believe the content was taken from a PAL source -- although what, I don't know, since the film has not apparently been released on DVD anywhere else in the world.

But if indeed taken from a PAL source, that would account for the length, as there's a 4% speed-up with PAL. 4% of 100, of course, is 4, and that subtracted from 100 is... yep, 96. So, I think the version on DVD from MGM is not missing anything; it's merely sped-up, as it's from a PAL source.

I have the PAL version on VHS, I'll check it out later and post the runtime.
By the way, according to Amazon the only official DVD, which is NTSC, is 97 minutes (I think the real runtime is 96.5 minutes though, but it doesn't matter).

I checked the VHS I have and it's 92.5 minutes, but the cover says it's 100 minutes. This is a PAL tape for sure because it's the Hebrew version of the movie.
By a simple calculation you can easily reach the conclusion that the NTSC counterpart of this version is 96.5 minutes, so the theory proposed in this thread is false...

Perhaps the 100 minutes thing is just a mistake, after all, my 92.5 minutes version also says 100 minutes on the cover...
