How long did Alex continue to work?

I was confused exactly how Alex was able to support herself when she quit working. Well, there's nothing in the movie that says she quit her editor job at Robbins and Hart, but I can't imagine she kept working when she started stalking Dan and slicing her wrists.

But wouldn't that be the perfect way to keep Dan in her life? When she comes to his office, it's like she doesn't even work there anymore. They say goodbye and give each other a hug like they'll never run into each other ever again. But wouldn't they be still running into each other because they work together? That's how they met so obviously it would be expected that they'd continue to run into each other.

Unless she did quit. Thoughts?

Remember that she didn't actually work with them, but for them. She said that she had only been on the job for a few weeks, and they only called her in after their usual editor wasn't in for the day. She was an associate editor, so she likely worked under those who did the work with Dan's firm, and probably wouldn't be around as much. Also it doesn't seem like it takes over a long period of time before she starts stalking him.
Halfway in the movie, Dan broke into her apartment after he saw her leave with an umbrella. She was likely headed to work in her position. Also, people with BPD completely change their self-image and personalities based on their schedules. She would likely be focusing on nothing but her job to the core, even if she was thinking about her relationship with Dan. When she finished with work is likely when her personal life became her main subject of focus. So she likely didn't quit.
