Post Golden Age Hollywood is just a series of vignettes


There is no flow, it's too constructed, too pedestrian, needless to say, too mediocre in subject matter and execution. It's not like "Vertigo" where the whole thing feels like a seamless dream. THAT is true film structure. Seamless. You could still feel that in something like Disney's The Little Mermaid, but I'm surprised to realize after so many years of watching film that the degeneration of film was going on even with the films I grew up with, even in the 80's. One thing I will say, there was still some form of artistry with mise en scene, but that's pretty much it. Sad.
