Alex and the Daughter
Why did Alex feel the need to kidnap the Daughter? Was she waving the fact that she wasn't going to back off despite Beth's warning in their faces? What's even more strange is the fact that the school thought Alex was Beth. Did Alex come up in the school with a forged note saying she needed to get the Daughter? Haven't they seen Beth before in real life? Didn't she and Dan have to get Ellen registered for school? They would have seen them then.
If Alex was trying to prove a point, then what exactly was the point? She brought Ellen back unscathed and unmolested. I wonder if the Daughter knew that Alex boiled her bunny with celery and sliced carrots? I heard that there was a deleted scene where Alex and the Daughter were on a rowboat at the amusement park and Alex stood over the Daughter. The Daughter then asked if Alex was going to kill her. Apparently, the Daughter knew something was up.
On a side note, I wonder what exactly went down in the house when Alex slit the bunny's throat and put it in the stock pot. What the hell was going on in her mind? It's a good thing Dan and Beth took Quincy with them that day. I could see Alex coming back in the kitchen with bare feet, holding the bunny by the fat of its neck. She opens the drawer, grabbing a large knife with serrated edges. Quincy is laying on the floor of the kitchen, not knowing what's about to go down. Alex closes the drawer and points the knife at Quincy the Dog, the blade facing away from her. "You're next," she seethes through gritted teeth before taking the bunny to the sink to slash his throat.
Knock it off, Hudson.
