Wasn't Alex's fingerprints..........(Spoilers)

All over that knife? she held it up to stab him and he took it and placed it on the counter and left then she frames him for murder, the police want to match up HIS fingerprints to the knife, but in the flashback she cuts her own throat with HER own hands on the knife? Wouldn't her fingerprints be on it? How would she expect to get away with framing him? Who called the police? She was single. How did the police know to come to her if she was murdered? Maybe the brightness and contrast is not very good on my TV and I didn't she that had something wrapped around the knife to keep his prints on it. Also if that was the case, when they look at the murder, they would see something wrapped around the knife too. I know I may be nitpicking, but I wouldn't mind some answers. Anyone?

The fact that her prints were on the knife is to be expected. It was her carving/kitchen knife and the forensic team would expect to find her prints on her own knife. But the fact that Dan had also now handled it implicates him. But you appear to be speaking of the alternate ending when in fact she appears to be carrying the same knife in order to murder Beth and eventually, Dan when he intervenes in the ending they selected. I don't think she intended to kill Dan in the ending we saw. She sneaked into his home with the sole purpose of erradicating Beth, until he defended his wife and turned on Alex.

The police were either way looking for Alex to haul her in for questioning which would explain why they would have discovered her had she slit her own throat in her apartment.

Although it is true that the police were looking for her and that it is her kitchen knife but the thing is the prince from her hands are going to be fresher than his because for all we know she didn't kill herself that quickly after they had a fight not to mention the night will again be in her hand after she slit her throat conveniently next to her with none of his shoe prints leading into the bathroom his two friends would have only gone from the kitchen to the living room to the front door it wouldn't make sense that she would have her throat perfectly slit considering you have to stand there and one spot to slit somebody's throat because of you slit her throat anywhere else the blood would have drift from his path from the floor in the kitchen through the hall and to the bathroom so it still would not have pointed to him.

Plus Dan had been to the cops on two separate occasions - firstly claiming to be enquiring on behalf of a friend and then finally telling them it concerned him and that Alex had kidnapped his child.

The best piece of evidence to exonerate Dan was Alex's tape in which she went from practically drooling over him (I TASTE you), to calling him a "f*ggot who probably doesn't even like girls" lol. Any investigator would determine she was mentally unhinged from that tape.

I wonder also if Alex ever consulted a doctor as Dan advised after she slashed her wrists. If so, the doctor could have testified in a court of law that she had a history of self-harm. Dan had a good case and besides, in this ending, Beth pulled the trigger in an act of self-defence PLUS she had cuts to her leg which would show more self-harm. Nobody armed with a knife and defending themselves (Beth or Dan), would aim for someones thigh and make superficial cuts. Another thing is Dan was also badly slashed in the struggle.

But the tape was shown in the alternate ending as the saving grace when Beth finds it. that tape would have made it a clear case of suicide - certainly it would expose Alex's true disturbed nature! (Edited due to typos!).
