I have always assumed this was the first time he had cheated on his wife but it sure didn't seem to take much for him to do it so now I wonder if he'd done it before...when Alex is asking if it's going to happen he says it is definitely up to her. Just seems odd that he would go in for that so easily if he'd never done it before.

People, get real: it's OBVIOUS he's a serial cheater!!
- He didn't hesitate nor gave it much thought the second an opportunity opened.
- He sure knows the "rules" about flings (he tries to get Alex to back off claiming she KNOWS these rules too) quite well for a first timer.
- Him saying it's his first time, well why would we or anyone believe him? He's cheating on his wife. Plus Alex lied to him also on their date (her dad being alive). It's obvious cheaters lie all the time, especially to their advantage.
- Being played by Douglas it's obvious we're supposed to take into account Douglas' reputation. He's not playing against type as in Disclosure.
- Guys in their mid 40's and with kids don't start cheating out of the blue for trivial reasons (him not getting enough sex due to frequent interruptions). It would take some serious marital trouble for a non cheater to go down that road at such stage into the marriage.
- Him not worrying at all about strapping his crap up (a first timer with hot wife whom he's still doing would definitely consider using protection to avoid knocking her up or getting an STD, a serial one no because he's gotten away with it before so he's riskier).
This movie could be renamed into "Cheaters getting their just deserts".
Well knowing Hollywood, in the movie they wanted us to believe this was his first time cheating and he is all around just a good husband and father. HOWEVER... THAT would be EXTREMELY unrealistic! He seemed way too casual and cool with it. He knew there was a certain "protocol" that women who slept with him should follow... that they should just do the deed and move on with their lives. When Alex tells him she is pregnant with his baby, his initial response is "don't worry I will pay for the abortion". Also a lot of people on the board are saying that Alex was sexually aggressive and that's why he cheated but to be honest she was really not all THAT aggressive. When they went for lunch, she suggested that they get something going and he agreed. It was really easy for him to cheat on his wife. Glad he learned his lesson though, I'm sure if he were real he would never even LOOK at another woman hahahaha
