Critics and opinions that makes me enjoy the movie even more
There are two kind of opinions that bothered me when I first came into IMDb to see what other people were thinking of the movie. But those two finally made me enjoy the movie even more. Here's why.
First was Ellen, the little girl that supposedly looks more like a boy. Like I said in a previous message in here : there are TONS of children around the world since a long time that don't fit their birth gender and like I also mentioned, I was one of them. I was a very shy and a bit feminine little boy. People were making fun of me because of this and now when I'm in here seeing the same comments over and over, it just reminds me the bullies at school or in the family. The funny thing, though, is that most people in here saying the same thing are adults. Haha!
Then, there's Alex, or rather let's say Glenn Close and the choice to choose her as the ''femme fatale'' of the movie. Some people are saying she doesn't look sexy or beautiful enough. My thoughts about it are : yes, there's something sexy about her, especially during the restaurant/bar scene when she's all in white and then during the weekend before the breakdown. Beautiful? Yes she is. Is she a supermodel, a bunny playboy? No. BUT the thing is that she just look NORMAL and natural! She was like the beautiful-but-simple woman next door that you can find in any big cities in the late 1980s. Not young enough? Then what, olden women can seduce, be seduced and have sex too.
Like I said, that bothered me at first. But now, after seeing so much critics about those two subjects, it made me realized that I like how ''normal'' the film can be (until a certain point during the story, of course). Normal people in New York City, living their life and then things happen. That's all. I wouldn't believe a movie where little girls are just typical little girls and where everyone is beautiful like in the magazines. This is not how life works!
Anyone feels the same?
