Is there movie of a man who stalks a woman?

I'm not saying women don't stalk men, but I was thinking about how more women are killed by men who are stalkers, but they take a more unusual route in the movie of a woman being a stalker.

I wonder why they went for a female being a stalker instead of a man? Was it to add a more unusual twist? Would a man being a stalker be more boring? Women who are over keen on a man are called bunny boilers, but I can't think of a similar name from movies for men who stalk women?

When a Stranger Calls - A young babysitter being stalked.
10 to Midnight - Serial Killer/Exhibitionist
Peeping Tom (sort of)
Fade to Black (1980)
Halloween (entire series)
Sleeping with the Enemy (Julia Roberts - in the film her character is stalked by her abusive husband).

(Man stalks another man)
The Fan
Hero & The Terror (Someone stalks Chuck Norris, lol)
The Hitcher

Cape Fear - prisoner stalks his OWN lawyer who he blames for not keeping him out of jail.

Thanks for the titles. I sometimes watch "Fatal attraction" and then "Falling down". In my mind, the D-Fens character could have been Dan Gallagher after "Fatal attraction". Beth leaves him. He can't see his daughter. He gets made redundant at his job. He moves back in with his mother. Then he just cracks.

There are different reasons for stalking. Alex was quite sick and I believe I read somewhere that they were eluding her to have Erotomania. This kind of ailment could go either way I'm sure, male or female and lead possibly to violence.

There are tons of men stalking women movies-mostly slashers or obsessive ex husbands/boyfriend movies.

reply

She didn't have Erotomania! That's ridiculous. She had a brief affair with him and couldn't let go to the point of losing her mind and acting on it in the most severe of ways. That is not Erotomania. She never believed that Dan was in love with her. Nor was he of a higher status.

The man stalking woman plotline has been done numerous times, probably because men are more likely than women to have sociopathic tendencies. However, the psychotic female stalker theme has also been done quite often. A couple examples off the top of my head are: Single White Female, in which Jennifer Jason Leigh stalks her neighbor and even pretends to be her, and Misery, in which Kathy Bates is an obsessed fan who kidnaps a writer. Also, if you do a little research on things like Borderline Personality Disorder, you will find that psychotic and dangerous women are more common than people think. I believe the filmmakers here were trying to show us that.

reply

Actually that is false men AND women are just as likely to have sociopathic tendencies stop spreading such disinformation because it damages society as a whole.

Sleeping With The Enemy, Unlawful Entry, and Lady Beware just off the top of my head.

BoSoxRule, great that you listed "Sleeping With the Enemy". That is truly a great example and a great film. I have it among my vast collection. The guy (Martin?), was hideously scary in this. Great casting!

reply

Yeah, Patrick Bergen did a great job as Martin, you just hated him. The opening scenes between the two of them are the best part of the movie, the rest of it is pretty forgettable.

reply

Yes I agree. It actually got a little predictable. The whole Julia Roberts trying on hats and costumes to Van Morrison's "Brown Eyed Girl" was cringeworthy. You just knew Martin was going to find her and blah blah blah - the usual predictable garbage ending lol.

Actually it is interesting you use that term because, although the term "Bunny Boiler" was never mentioned in Fatal Attraction, it stems directly from that film thanks to Alex Forest's actions of boiling Ellen's pet rabbit.
