I saw this when it came out.
I worked in NYC in the 80s.
It was a classic then and it still is.
Just for kicks I watched it again and once again admired how superb this movie is.
Then I come to IMDB and I find such a low rating for such an amazing film.I cant figure out why!
People are idiots and do not appreciate good quality films. That's why it has a lower rating than one would expect.

shareAgreed. However. When an unseen movie comes out after release in the US I do check here. If it is a high rating it generally means it is good as the ratings are so stingey lol. But folks here can rate good movies very low too so if it has a high rating it's generally accurate It's all about personal taste I'm afraid plus the newer generation vs the older movie. A lot of teens have no regard for anything that isn't 25,000 polygon-heavy or something that has no CGI at all. That means they have to actually think
