Just fell back in love wth it (after 20 years)
Used to love these movies back in the day (especially #2) but as I got a little older in my mid 20's, these movies became a bit 'meh' to me (and I considered them a bit childish and overrated) my admiration turned to contempt.
Fast forward another 20 years (and despite buying these movies on blu-ray upon release, purely for nostalgic reasons) I've never actually watched these movies since the late 90's....until this afternoon, I unwrapped/watched 'Evil Dead II' for the first time this century (fully expecting it to suck) and thankfully it was still great...and as an added bonus (what I once found funny, I now found to be 'scary' and 'creepy') the visual gags now took on a sinister aspect (which vastly improved the movie, for me)
However, I don't think I'm going to risk watching 'Army Of Darkness' (just yet) as it was always my least-favourite back in the day anyhow (and a little too goofy, which probably led to my initial fall-out with the franchise in the first place) but I'm pleased to say that I've learnt to (re)appreciate part II (and the non-stop visual onslaught still holds up well) wiith far more imaginative graphics than those dreadful 'Elm Street' movies.
