Yes and no.
It's not in the basement, it's in the workshed.
Wes and Sam often reference each others work in their films.
It all started with Sam putting a torn poster of The Hills Have Eyes in The Evil Dead (which was a reference to the torn JAWS poster in The Hills Have Eyes). Wes then had Nancy watching The Evil Dead (well the trailer anyway) in A Nightmare On Elm Street. Sam responded with the Freddy glove in this film.
They still do the little references to this day.
And so, God came forth and proclaimed widescreen is the best.
