I'm really interested in the holocaust and since i learnt of sobibor i've wanted to know so much more about it as so little is available. Does the film show the camp and "the tunnel" most inmates were forced down to the gas chambers? I know it's weird to be interested in this but i've read so much about it.

Thanks, that's great, i'll try to find those, im really interested in Out Of The Ashes concerning Dr Josef Menegle. He has got to be one of the most evil men in history.

I am also wondering if anyone here has read many novels concerning the holocaust?

I really enjoyed Hitler's Holocaust by a German Historian called Guido Knopp, his account is detailed. Also, Eva's Story by Eva Schloss is good, she is Anne Frank's stepsister and watched her family perish in Auschwitz.

I am glad that no one thinks i am strange, it's not that i think the holocaust is a strange thing to be interested in, everyone should be aware of it, i just wonder how i can read such gruesome accounts sometimes.

If you haven't already read it - I would recommend reading Thomas Toivi Blatt's 'From the Ashes of Sobibor'. I started reading it a few days ago - it is superb. I have also just bought - 'If This is a Man' by Primo Levi. This is supposed to be a definitive book on the Holocaust.

here's a movie for you - "The Eighty-First Blow". it's a 1974 oscar mominated documentary. not available on dvd(yet) but exists on vhs. used to show up on pbs, but has'nt for years. this is actual video and photos made by the nazis during the war years and is quite disturbing. it's available from www.jewishvideo.com. far more powerful than any fictional, or factual "movie" on the subject that you might see. i saw it many years ago and still have vivid memories of it.

The Eighty-First Blow
An historical document made up of footage and
stills shot by the Nazis. Produced by Israel's Ghetto Fighters' House, this compilation of testimony from witnesses who appeared at the Eichmann trial provides a telling narrative. The film's title refers to the story of a Jewish boy in one of the ghettos, who was struck with 80 blows. He survived and immigrated to Israel, where he found that no one believed his story-that was the 81st blow!
