Music at the trainstation

Hi there!
I watched the film last night and was indeed impressed by it. I have a question about the film though:
The music that was played in the beginning of the film when the train came in at the station, who has made that? It's classical music and is played 3-4 times in the film.

Please help me!

"Tales from the Vienna Woods" by Johann Strauss

It was probably not on purpose, but in The Private Lives of Pippa Lee there's a short sequence when Pippa moves in with Alan Arkin and we see her serving him at the table, at various moments in time.

The music underneath this scene is this waltz from Johann Strauss, which is played when Arkin (as Leon Feldhendler) and a few of his fellow prisoners stand waiting for the train.

A truly harrowing scene, with that phony happy music. Is it a reference on purpose (which I can hardly imagine, for what would be the use?) or mere coincidence?
