I saw all the Ernest films from Saves Christmas through to Goes to Africa when I was 13, but didn't see this one (or Ernest In The Army) because the video store didn't have it.
Because this was the 1st Ernest film, was this any better/funnier than the others?

It's a good movie, you should try to rent it or buy it. It's my favourite Ernest movie.

The only ones i recommend are Saves Christmas, Goes to School, Goes to Jail, Scared Stupid, Goes to Camp(the best), and Ernest Rides Again. Goes to Camp was my favorite as a child and even now. Ernest in the Army was so-so, Goes to Africa i thought was terrible, and Slam Dunk Ernest is second worst. To answer your question, yes Goes to Camp was his first and his best. I have some of these on DVD. A lot of people smirk at me when i tell them, but i just smile back and say, "Hey, Ernest was a dork, but he was a dork that kept me entertained as a kid and even now." Sadly he's dead, may he rest in piece.
