things I noticed now that I'm older

I just bought this on DVD after not seeing it for years. When the nurse sticks him with the needle and he screams out "I did it, I stole the Limberg baby, I am Josef Mengele." I almost died laughing.

That is a pretty serious statement for such a light-hearted movie.

For those who don't know: Charles Limberg was the first man to fly over the English channel in an aircraft, and his baby was stolen in the middle of the night. There is much contraversy over the kidnapping. Josef Mengele was the Nazi "Angel of Death" who was responsible for the medical experiments on prisoners in the death camps.

Eddie and Jake are hilarious together. I don't know why they switched Eddie for that old guy in the future movies.

OK, first of all, it is Charles Lindbergh (not Limberg). He wasn't the first person to fly over the English Channel, he was the first person to fly non-stop from New York to Paris.

Get your facts straight.

reply

ok sorry 'bout that. Thanks for the correction, try not to be such a jackas$ troll next time.

Give the guy a break. He (or she) just wanted to comment on the movie. Don't be so critical. I happen to know yall didn't make 100%'s in history class. Safe Assumption...

does the groundhog live in detroit or the Sea of New Orleans?

Vern...

The mysterious, faceless "buddy" that Ernest is always bugging or intruding upon. The movies were great, but the commercials are ESSENTIAL Ernest.

And, yeah, go easy on people.

reply

Well oddly enough, the Eddie that they used for this one ended up being in the other Ernest movies, just as different characters.

Nice observation, i looked in on that a few years ago after wondering who Josef Mengele was. I unfortunately knew who Lindberg was.

If there was one thing i always found weird about this movie, it was the fact that Ernest nor Nurse St. Cloud tried to get that Krader guy arrested for CLEARLY trying to shoot Ernest 3 times! All that happened was they apparently went to court and confessed to tricking the old indian into signing the lease to the land, therefore, Camp Kickakee was reopened. I would've seriously added the fact that the evil prick with the rifle tried to kill an unarmed man. Even if the guy and his crew didn't deserve what they got, they still had no right to try and shoot anyone. I would've sued him and his company for fraud, and got him slapped with an attempted murder charge. I know it was just a silly movie, but that guy in real life would've gotten a lot more than what he walked away with.

I'm glad they remade this movie and named it Avatar. Hmmmm.

reply

Avatar could only wish it was as re-watchable as this.

reply

When I was a kid, I didn't know anything about either thing so I thought Josef Mengele WAS the man who kidnapped the Lindburgh baby, LOL!
