Do you think this at least had some influence on Home Alone?
As in both feature a child who starts out as a brat but is then separated from their family and ends up in the house by themselves. They both start out doing things that most kids would do with no adults around (jump on the bed, ride their bike in the house), but then it soon starts to set in that there is no one to protect them from the dangers of the world (Japanese Army, Burglars) which the child then spends the rest of the film realizing that their childhood has been suspended which they then get back at the end when reunited with their family.
