His character's name is "Dainty." I couldn't have cared less as I find Ben Stiller loathsome.

he blue himself

AD fan? :D

Wasn't he with Baisie at the end, in that car? I thought he shot the young Japanese wanna-be Kamikaze pilot who was Jim's friend?

I don't remember where he ended up in the end but I was shocked as hell to see him in this film. I never knew he had acted in a serious film.

reply

No kidding-I'm sure he even surprised himself with being in that film.

I thought he was pretty handsome in it !

You've got to get even with Jerry Hathaway;it's a moral imperative!-REAL GENIUS

He said that while filming this he came up with the idea of Tropic Thunder

Great story about Ben Stiller on the set of this film working with Spielberg:

He made a few "serious" films before he hit pay dirt with his comedy roles, he was also in next of kin with Patrick Swayze and Liam Neeson which should have been far better as the whole idea of the mob vs hill billys is great on paper

reply

Yeah, he was a good serious actor. I think he should try more serious roles. It's the same with Marlon Wayans in Requiem for a Dream.

Wayans had/has hidden depth as an actor?

For many that saw RFAD, he did. He was quite impressive in Requiem for a Dream. Showed he good deliver a solid serious performance, he even said he wanted to do more roles like that, shame he hasn't, people still want to see him in comedic roles. It's the same with Jim Carrey.

Why is it that comedic actors usually end up turning out strong dramatic performances?

See: Robin Williams in One Hour Photo and Insomnia.

Why does this article refer to Ben Stiller as a "child actor" in this movie when he was like 22 at the time?

reply

What I think is funny is Bale is almost unrecognizable, he's so young.
Malkovich looks much older now, understandably, but Stiller looks the same then as he does now. Weird.

I'm not a woman much less Deanna Durbin, but the old-time glam-shot appeals to me.

Frank tells Jim that Basie took Dainty with him when he escaped.
