Yes, I feel like being a dick.

So my question is, the lawyer who was supposed to have died in the auto accident, but did not, is still alive 10 years later after he’s been living in the remains of the “autopsy asylum” where his autopsy was to have taken place. Let’s leave aside the point that autopsies take place in morgues and not in mental institutions (asyla) (that’s the Latin plural, children). My question is, what the fuck did he eat? How did he survive? I know: these are trivialities that interfere with the flow of the alleged plot. I’ve already stipulated that I’m being a dick.

What was the lawyer’s motive for killing people post auto accident? “I killed them all for you”?! Bullshit. He knew that 10 years hence Judy’s daughter would stumble into the hellhole asylum?! Not one of the victims would have interfered with his relationship with Judy‘a daughter. This Wes pure lazy bullshit “writing.”

I’m being serious.

Horror movies do not HAVE to depend on stupidity! Case in point: The Exorcist, Byzantium.

Obviously he went mad with grief; and his disfigurement didn't help. Logic is not the motivation of crazy people.

As far as what he lived on, he stole from the asylum's cafeteria before it shut down and, after that, ate the trespassers he attacked & killed (according to the "legends" the youths mentioned), supplemented by dumpster diving in the neighborhood and what have you (in other words, he existed on the same type of diet as that of homeless people living under a bridge).

Regarding the autopsy taking place at the sanitarium, the local morgue was probably being renovated, so city officials temporarily switched operations to the asylum, which was also a hospital and would definitely have a section for recently-deceased bodies.
