I'm sure if the movie had been made a few years later, they would have shown condoms but at the time, well it was a different era.

At first I thought it 'odd timing'. But like others mentioned here, I assumed that Johnny knew more than enough to use condoms.

I always laugh when Baby is playing like checkers or chess with her dad during a rainy day and suddenly without saying anything she just gets up, puts on her rain coat and heads out the door. Next scene is her laying in bed with Johnny, ha. Yeah lets see here playing this stupid game with dad or go get laid.
