without a doubt this was the best of the death wish series. it's just over the top enough that it's really enjoyable, but not so over the top that you hate it. this movie is damn near perfect when it comes to kill 'em all revenge movies.
Just finished watching it for the first time in many years. I think a lot of people who thought DW3 was a joke (an excellent one actually) didn't give DW4 enough of a chance. Too bad because it may just be the best of the series. In retrospect it would have been nice to see Paul Kersey walk away from this one happy instead of with yet another dead female companion.
I own the first 4 DW films and this one is good but a little bit watered down from its previous installment. The demise of the final bad guy was very well done. Sad how Kersey cannot find a woman to settle down with. His wife gets killed off in the original, his girlfriend from the second film leaves him, and his girlfriends from the third and forth movies are killed off. I've never seen Death Wish V: The Face of Death but I've read alot of negative feedback on the film. Because its part of the franchise I'm going to watch it and judge for myself if it was really that bad of a film. Overall, I think the first 4 movies are all good in their own way. So far 2 and 3 are my favorites.
If this was the final Death Wish where Kearsey could have settled down it would have been awesome. It is sad that they had to go for the awful part five. This is a legit action movie from Cannon where most were sucking. If it just had a bit of a tighter story line and directing, it would be a classic.
