The Suitcase

Was that Julie Rose who had the suitcase of money and got killed? And was that Murray who killed her? Because if they already have the money why get Katie involved? Who was Julie calling in the parking lot like she was dropping off money for? Evelyn?

Also, Evelyn was paying a ransom to get Julie back, just to kill her herself? Why not just tell them to kill her off? I'm not understanding why they killed Julie in the first place, and then bring Katie into the fray.

It appeared that the key to the locker was the same one used by Julie in the beginning. So how did Evelyn get it? Or do they just hide their money in lockers?

I'm not understanding the plot at all.
