Okay, it's not BONNIE AND CLYDE, but director Penn's touch is clearly evident in this stylish throw back to movies like DIAL M FOR MURDER and WAIT UNTIL DARK. Mary Steenburgen makes uncanny sense out of the two roles she plays. The reality she and Penn create for the actress character gives what could have been a creaky progression of mystery devises real life. Since we believe her, the movie's suspense builds and the mystery story twists entertain.

shareYeah, I agree she over acted some of her scenes... That slow walk up the stairs after the Dr. said she could go home in the morning was painful to watch, amongst others. I agree concerning the atmosphere of the movie. Snow, cold and seclusion/isolation are sure winners in suspense and horror movies. Throw in some mental illness and all you need is a mediocre story/plot line...

The movie is superb, and I just love it! The performances and the eerie atmosphere are amazing. I saw it a few days ago for the very first time. It was very late night and quite cold around here, and this was just perfect for it. I'm sure it wasn't the cold weather but this great movie that gave me the chills! I'm planning on watching it soon again.

I've never heard of this film until i watched it recently. Its a really Great Thriller, Great Location , Creepy performances and good acting all round really between the 3 main characters.
Agreed. This classy thriller was quite tense, gripping, and effective. Steenburgen was excellent in her multiple roles, with fine support from Jan Rubes and Roddy McDowall.
