I need to dig up the tape, wherever it is, and watch it again. I love it when she eats the burger and fries, just adorable!

Granted it's cheesy & corny, it's an enjoyable guilt trip movie. I first saw this movie in the theatres back in 1987. And believe me, as any hot blooded young man at the time would confirm, I watched it because of one reason - EMMANUELLE BEART. She is a true beauty who can incandescently project her luminosity & effervecence right at ya and dazzle the beejeezus out of you! AND SEEING HER ON THE BIG SCREEN WAS JUST AMAZING - there she is: LARGER AND MORE BEAUTIFUL THAN LIFE! The camera just loves that woman's face (of course right now she looks a litle weird with all the plastic surgery she's undergone - kinda looks like an elderly Leslie Caron).

My question now is: is this the only comedy Emmanuelle Beart starred in? With all the great French films she's starred in, she might have done a bit part in another comedy there...

Actually she's more of a drama actress. But she also starred in "Voyance et manigance" (2001) where she plays a naive young woman who meets a psychic about her husband cheating on her. In that movie she had a southern-France accent and of course it's clearly a comedy about charlatans, fake exorcisms and all that stuff ...

To answer The Critical Mass,

No, it's not the only comedy Béart has done. Un fil à la patte is another one, but it SUCKS, it has some funny moments, but it sucks. Also, I think La Bûche is another comedy Béart has done. What else, umm... maybe Les Témoins, I don't know. However, if you didn't watch her French films, you should. Here's what I recommend.

1. Nathalie...
2. 8 Femmes
3. La Belle Noiseuse
4. Manons des Sources
5. Une Femme Française
6. Un Coeur en Hiver

Un Histoire de Marie et Julien is so-so. La Bûche and À Boire are kinda okay. Les Égarés suck at big time. And, I guess I don't remember the rest. Un héro de la famille is good. Rosanna Arquette's documentary "Searching for Debra Winger" is insightful. Mission: Impossible is alright, she does not many lines, a bit more than this Angel one.

I don't intend to be offensive, but I have to defend my opinions.

I'm 27... only 7 years old when this movie came out and it was one of my favorites when I was a kid. I thought it was funny towards the end of the movie when Phoebe is crying and says in a whiny voice "He kicked me right in my Heiney"... Then that love bug guy.... he's all happy and giggly... and Phoebe is like... who the h^ll are you... and also when she's driving in the car and hears Angel baby playing on the radio and flips out, screams, and breaks the dial on the radio... and when her father got bit by the dog... soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo many hilarious parts in this movie... I need to go dig it up and watch it.

Dance like nobody's watching,Work like you don't need the money...Love like you've never been hurt

I cant believe I never made this connection before! Phoebe Cates is Lizzie from Drop Dead Fred!! Another favorite from childhood.

That was hilarious (did I spell that right? I never do.) when she loses it and puts the (red) underwear over her jeans, she had been drinking. Remember she gets into her car and all the songs on the radio are about angels!! I think the dial breaks off too. XDXDXD
Man, we used to watch that all the time. I wonder if it comes on TV ever.

Yeah! Thats right, he did have a tumor. She was coming down to him and got hit by a satlite, she falls into his pool. Breaks her wing, right?
I remember the TV thing too, they had a lot of weird angel merchantise.
Good memories.
I like your tag.

I loved it too.

Think he was dying from the brain tumor, but the angel fell in his pool.

Loved the way they used back lighting to really make the angel look like what I would imagine an angel should look like. Emmanuelle Beart's looks and her voice really fit the part of an angel.

Michael E. Knight's character Jim was afflicted with a malignant brain tumor. It was mentioned by the doctor character to Jim's parents close to the end of the movie.

I really love this film too, and I'm glad to see I'm not alone. Remember, it's on DVD now, so if you are another adoring fan of this flick and you haven't done so yet, go out and buy it! (Remember, if a DVD of a movie dosen't sell well, they stop producing it.)

reply

Yes, I am an adoring fan of this film too! Beart was so beautiful.

It's an interesting psychological phenomenon.

reply

I loved this movie also. Loved all three actors.

I like the references to the devil with Phoebe holding the cooking fork (pitch fork) and the food flaming up (flames of hell) after she growls from seeing the news cast compared to the Angel being, well, an angel. Nice contrast.

reply

Actually, it's sort of lavender-ish.

Love this movie. Michael Knight was adorable and the beautiful Phoebe Cates is just too funny in this movie. And I like how Emmanuelle Béart (the Angel) looks in this movie before she got all that plastic surgery.

Definitely underrated in my book. I love this film. I especially like the scenes with the animals! And of course the french fries!

They have been showing this on Showtime recently. I'm glad they finally have this on DVD.
