Obscure film

I was just checking out the top 250 movies of all time and thought and was not suprised to see what made the premier spots. How many people have seen this movie? This movie is great and seemingly under exposed to the public as a whole. Better than Shwashank because the emotion is real and not pretentious in anyway. The story ending does not slip into soppy corniness in Hollywood-esque fashion a la A time to Kill. Furthermore, I enjoyed the fact that once Biko had died the intensity of the plot did not subside at all. In fact, this is the first movie I have watched I a long time that I cared about subsequent events. Denzel is the greatest black actor ever.

i agree with you to some extent, but shawshank is one of my fav films. but cry freedom, is a powerful eye opener that barely ever appears. its just amazing, its a hard film for me to watch only because it is so upsetting. the scener where the children are marching and they start shooting at them its just heart breaking.

but it is possibly the most underrated film i have ever watched, and
more people need to be made aware of it. both washington and kline were amazing in this film, and both deserved to be recognised for it.

This film is very very hard to find, my school is lucky enough to have it on VHS in the library, but apparently my teacher has looked all over for it and found one old copy.

I agree on everything you said.
Denzel came with not only one of his greatest , most intense & emotional appearances in career, but also one of the best, most intense & emotional roles of that decade. He lost his Oscar in favor of Sean Connery in "Untouchables" & I think it's even bigger shame that losing for "Malcolm X".
As for film,it completely blew my mind. It's one of the most touching & thoughtful pictures ever.
