Years ago, this board had quite a few post, but I guess the board died a slow, trickling death and they all got deleted. Anyway, I have always loved this movie for these reasons: Richard Pryor, Garrett Morgan, and Ty Cobb. For anyone who has seen the movie, you know why.
shareI love this film too and can't believe it only has a 4.4 average rating. OH well, whether anyone else likes it or not doesn't affect my enjoyment. Everyone seems to hate Moving and I love that one too. In fact, most of Richard Pryor's films seem to be pretty poorly regarded by many. I love most of them myself.
shareIt was a popular film on rental where it found an audience but is rarely shown on tv.
Its that man again!!
Somehow this escaped my awareness both in theaters and on videos. That's no major loss, in my opinion. The cast is very appealing, but I found it unfunny and only mildly entertaining. Richard Pryor made films that were much better, as did almost everyone else in this cast. 5/10 stars from me.
shareme too got really surprised how empty this board is. not a very fetching (english) comedy movie title, is it. not my favorite pryor flick, but i can't understand the absolute bottom reviews it get from some critics, there are some funny bits, but i agree the ingredients doesn't mix that well, other pryor 80's movies that also get pretty bad reviews i really like, then ofcourse there are the stand up shows, that i don't think i have seen gotten negative reviews. tex cobb confused about his identity might very well be the highlight of this movie!
the winter as dates came to close,
in dark your prints covered by snow,
with dust and eerie indoors,
i bolted and shut down our home,
drifting around alone the land dark and cold,
the winter as dates came to roll,
i stumbled on to the unknown door,
got hit in the face with charm and warmth,
as you turned our home hipper than ever before.
Cool.
shareIt's not hilarious, but I thought it was an entertaining, fun film with a good underlying message.
An it sure doesn't hurt that Rachel Ticotin is so attractive/charismatic/charming.
