What is the point to have him be married?


The whole wife and daughter thing was unnecessary, it just made him look worse as a person, like a slutty cop instead of a hero. They should have made him a single man, or divorced or something, IMHO... I would have had more respect for him anyway.

And what would he gave done with that respect of yours? Anyways, he was indeed supposed to be a bit of an amoral sleazebag - why not? Makes the character more interesting.

there was a time well into the 80s, maybe even the 90s, when a man in his 30s or older would be looked at as weird or gay for not having been married with kids
