No point
Wow, a movie about some skank walking around naked. No point in making this movie. The producers just wanted to bring in hard ons for the guys. Pure sexist trash.

Yeah....... I bet if the girl was a guy doing the same thing in this movie, you'd feel the same way. *rolls eyes*
shareIt's based on a true story. The book was written by the real Lucy Irving and according to her own book she spent most of her time on the island naked and who wouldn't in a paradise like that?
shareI don't understand the original post, unless it's by a person offended by nudity.
This is a real life adventure, that few would undertake. The movie follows Lucy's book very closely, about an almost tragic year, on an island between Australia and New Guinea. You can read Gerald Kingsland's take on it, in the last half of his book "The Islander".
Wow. Issues much? She was naked much of the time, but how does that make her a skank? Seems to me that calling her a skank for no reason is more sexist than her walking around nude. And yes, women can be sexist to other women (I'm assuming you're female, since you tacked on that sexist trash remark. If you're not female, you still have issues). Nudity does not always equal porn (yes, I know you didn't mention porn) or sexism and does not indicate anything in particular about the person's character. Sheesh.
shareWell said, Moon.
Just learn to ignore the insane posts of the ignorant.
The whole point of this film was to portray a true adventure and in doing so, stick as closely as possible to the facts. Nudity is the most natural form and on a desert island, the most natural way of living I would think!
It's not as though we had to see Oliver Reed's hammocks every time he bent over LOL! It was tastefully done in my opinion and with a figure such as Amanda had, it was not at all uncomfortable viewing. The only folks who would get sexually aroused by this are teenaged boys who would undoubtedly not even have understood the film as a true representation, much less realised it is based on Lucy's book!!
I often drink to make people seem more interesting
It wasn't pointless at all. It was great for a hand shandy!
shareIn the book, the power play about who was up and who was down, and why, was fascinating. There were lots of important messages there about human relationships. This didn't come across so clearly in the movie, but it's still there. There are messages behind the pixels. The story was much more than a series of beach shots.
"Spock! Form an away team! You, me, Bones, Scotty and umm... Ensign Smith!"
I'm at a loss to understand how you could associate nakedness with sexist trash, unless you some fundamentalist Christian is Islamic dodo brain. You're on a coral island miles from the nearest person. Lu was 24 when she had this adventure. Believe me, if I was 24, the first thing I'd do is remove my clothes. There's no one to impress, a real pain in the ass to keep clean, and they get wet in the rain. What they did given their circumstance was perfectly logical.
shareAre you american? lt's usually the yanks who are prudish and all righteous about nudity. Guns are great but boobs are wrong. WTF?!
