Nicholson said he didn't want to distract from the leads of the movie so he did not get paid or receive a credit.

He did it as a favor for Jim Brooks. He was grateful for his Terms of Endearment Oscar.

..I'd go to middle earth and look for Unspoiled Monsters. Then move to the country.
