Is Broadcast news loosely based on the Cary Grant film "His Girl friday"? or is there no link at all?

I don't know whether Broadcast News was based upon His Girl Friday, but I also thought these two movies had a lot in common ...

His Girl Friday is actually a remake of The Front Page.

It's about a woman journalist and two guys who are rivals for her. That's about the limit of the similarity.
