What was Aaron drinking?

The scene where he's at home "reading and singing at the same time", he makes a drink, puts something in it and it turns green. Anyone know what that is?

A properly poured absinthe will turn green. But considering you can't (and presumably couldn't in the mid '80s), I doubt that's what it is.

I don't get it. How come you couldn't properly pour absinthe in the 80s?

It has been banned in the US for years. According to Wikipedia it's still illegal to make and sell in the US though it's not illegal to possess and consume it (I guess you have to buy it abroad and bring it in).

This is crazy, but we watched this movie for the first time tonight, and I almost plotzed when that scene came on as I was in the process of making the EXACT same drink (Screwdriver from concentrate). And now to see that there's even a thread about it...

I felt so sorry for Aaron then...being passed over for the interview while watching Tom being groomed for "greatness." But I was a bit grossed out when he used his finger to mix the cocktail he was making. A small point, but eww!

Mixing your own drink with your own finger is anything but gross. Who cares?

Also, alcohol kills most bacteria.

It's a little gross considering how many dirty surfaces we touch every day and our faces all day long... hopefully he washed his hands ;)
