News as it ought to be/ the end of the movie
I like the fact that Jane, the capable producer and symbol of what news should be did not end up with either the attractive but empty-headed newscaster or the whip-smart newsman without any on-camera skills. A truly good, successful news show needs a little of both men's best qualities. Of course Jane can't end up with either man. It is even more appropriate that though she is seeing someone at the end of _Broadcast News_, she has not married. In today's newsmarket, there is no perfect anchor, so neither Jane nor the news can "settle down" with the right person.
