Who plays Buddy Felton in the deleted subplot scenes?

Just watched the new blu-ray Criterion disc, loved it, love the film. The deleted scenes are eye-opening, to say the least. Aside from the alternate ending (which doesn't work), there is an entire subplot involving Tom (William Hurt), as he is learning the ropes of anchorman, getting involved with a Washington "source" who feeds him news flashes before they are announced, and helps him get ahead. The character, Buddy Felton, appears very prominently in a number of scenes, and is openly gay (and openly in love with Tom). It doesn't work at all dramatically, and the film wouldn't be as good as it is if it hadn't been totally cut (Brooks' late 80s take on a gay man feels very awkward). But who is the actor playing Buddy Felton? Brooks never mentions the actor by name during his commentary of these deleted scenes; his name isn't in the credits, either in the film or on IMDB, and I've searched the web in vain trying to find out who he is. Anyone out there know?
