Is this strange to anyone else?

That the kid has waitresses fawning all over him? I mean as strange as it is that grown women can be pervy like that in real life, would that kid really get that kind of attention? Or does it require suspension of disbelief?

I would also be surprised if William Hurt was ever a heart throb.

"You'll have to speak up I'm wearing a towel."

Oh, I can easily imagine a saucy diner waitress being folksy and saying something like, "That boy is so cute, he'll have to beat 'em off with a stick when he gets older", meaning that many girls will find him attractive. Never struck me as strange at all.

It's foreshadowing for the "attractive" William Hurt. He's "just a pretty face" in the movie, and they wanted to set it up that way. I didn't find the kid all that attractive, but waitresses being waitresses...
