For those of you who don't know, this film premired at the Sundance Film Festival, and it was well received with positive reactions. However, it failed to find a distribitor. Since Disney owned the TV and Home Video right, they just aired it on TV. Anyway, I just watched it after many years, and I love it even more than I did when I was a kid. It's just so brilliant with the animation, the script, direction, and much more. A very underrated film. It deserved a theater release, it's just so creative and well made. Your thoughts?

I'm glad they aired it on TV cause I was a kid and we had the Disney Channel. I watched the Disney Channel all the time and this movie was on quite often. I agree it deserved a theatrical release, but for my own selfish reasons, I'm glad it didn't get one! :)

What if the movie had been made today and was released into theatres? Back in the 90's this was still a great movie, but so were many others. I think it would stand out more today for its sheer creativity. It would even have a shot at winning an Oscar or something. Who knows?

It is unfortunate that nobody would pick up a movie like this. Thank God they did release it to video though. I remember it used to be on TV all the time when I was a kid.

It was shown in art house theaters, which is only fitting. This movie is too good for commercialized movie theaters; it's very much an independent animated film. That's why I love it.

HAHA I totally thought there was more to this title! It looked like you typed "it's too bad this film wasn't in teachers...- " and I was like yeah? In teachers what? I didn't know you meant "Theaters." XD

It's a good thing they didn't, can you imagine anyone wanting to take their kids to a movie with a poster like this?

I heard it got a limited release in theaters, so it technically did. It's just that it didn't get popular there.

If it did get a widescreen release, I'm not sure if it would have been a success. On the one hand, it had no competition from Don Bluth, but it isn't exactly a major Disney film either.
