Edited scenes

I recently rented this movie and the 'steamy' scene was deleted...I then caught it on cable and it was edited as well. What's up with that?

reply

Oh Lord, I don't know, but I'd be raising hell all over the place! I've seen it both at a theater and on TV and even edited for TV, they include "The Scene". I'd be asking someone for a replay, with ALL scenes included!!

Standard DVD version also omits final scene after shootout, thereby missing most of the point of their relationship, prior to wedding scene behind credits.
anybody scene a full version, any region?

reply

I just watched a video on Youtube that had scenes I don't remember, also, such as Dennis Quaid in the hospital with a bandage on his butt. Unfortunately it was in French so I had no idea what was said ;p Is there an extended version somewhere?

I saw the version on the DVD of the Cinemathek of Süddeutsche Zeitung which includes the hospital scene. It's region 2.

I didn't see anything in French, in YT. Sure you didn't see this in Localmotion?

Please give us the direct link to what you saw. Thanks.

The more Ken Loach films I try to see, the more I think they need subtitles!

jon-farrows,

Psst, I saw one deleted scene, from a foreign-issued DVD, with German subtitles yet that played JUST BEFORE the end-roll credit (where Remy and Anne are dancing their wedding waltz).

The deleted scene is brief, about 2:50 minutes in length. It takes place in a hospital room as Remy is recovering from shrapnel wounds to his back-side, after he and Anne ran from the boat explosion at the dock.

It's a darling scene and one where Remy lopsidedly proposes marriage to Anne, and she coyly accepts.

The more Ken Loach films I see, the more I think they need English subtitles.

Why in the world would they cut that scene from the region 1 version??? To jump from the couple surviving the shootout to them dancing at home in their wedding clothes was abrupt and it did seem like a transitional scene or two was missing. I couldn't get enough of the Remy/Anne romance so knowing I missed a part of it, however brief, is disappointing. Please, YouTube, don't let me down....

Who knows? I can't second guess the studio on this one, nor would I wish to try .... I can wonder if it might have been because the studio wanted the ending to be a total surprised to the audience, which ... it surely was!

Yes, very abrupt! And, even more so when seen in retrospect!
I completely agree with your post!
