I go to New Orleans a lot and know someone who lives there and she took my friend an me to the house where the porch scene was filmed...it looks the same, and the bridge where the taxi came over is there...or at least was...I don't know if the hurricaine destroyed it or not...Also, I've seen Terrence Simien and his band about a dozen times...he comes to Greensboro, NC a lot and we always go to see him...he's absolutely fabulous, and we've gotten to know him and the band members...all of them are really down to earth...

so, where was the mamas house filmed at?? im from south louisiana and know the new orleans area pretty well, but dont recognize that bridge...it had the lake in the background of a distant shot...

Yes, where is it? Anyone? IMDB doesn't seem to list it, and I'm having no luck finding this canal/bridge/lake layout on Google or Bing. Thanks!

It's on bayou St. John by Cabrini High School in New Orleans
