Aaron Neville -Tell It Like It Is- Scene Cut?

The song "Tell It Like It Is" by the Neville Brothers is on the soundtrack; sounds like a live version too, and I remember seeing them perform it - and I thought is was in The Big Easy, but rented the DVD and didn't see the scene I was remembering.

I thought it was when Remy and Anne were at Tipitina's. Am I just having a pre-senior moment or did they cut that scene on the DVD?

Deep down, I'm pretty superficial.

Played while Anne was in bed and Remmie was on the couch when they had called it a night after sorting through papers.

Thanks Darby

I was actually remembering a scene with Aaron performing; I think it was cut from the DVD release. On the soundtrack the song is a "live" performance with an introduction and audience. That's how I remember it in the movie too.

Gidget,

I don't ever recall seeing The Neville's as a group or singular members, performing in this film.

Now, I DO recall hearing their live version of "Tell it like it is" playing in the background, as Remy settles down to sleep on his couch, after he and Anne stayed up until 1am working on the Angelo Case (just before Remy's bro' comes home from a night out). The brother jokes that Remy's sleeping on his couch, while R's lady friend is occupying his bed!

The more Ken Loach films I see, the more I think they need English subtitles.

My original post:
I know I'm responding to a post from years ago, but as I recall, yes, there was a scene with the Neville Brothers performing live in the version of the movie I saw. I remember it for one reason - I remember the mole over Aaron Neville's right eye. The Neville Brothers' appearance coincided with their rise to national prominence; they had been a regional act before that. I never saw "The Big Easy" in the theater, but it was an HBO staple back in the late eighties - watched it many times back then, and had a VHS copy I recorded from cable. I cleaned out most of my old VHS movie copies a few years ago, so I probably don't have it any more; I'm away from home right now, but I'll take a look when I get back.

My Update:
I just did a little research on this issue. The Neville Brothers are not credited in the IMDb credits (seems like they would even if the scene had been cut from the DVD version), and I can't find any mention of their appearance in the movie anywhere on the web. As I ponder this, I think what we are both remembering is a Neville Brothers music video tie-in to "The Big Easy" that played on MTV incessantly after the movie came out. The tie-in was such that it was filmed at Tipitina's and DQ and EB appeared in the video to cross-promote the movie.

That song is playing in the background when Remy's brother got shot.
