Why does hollywood...

always make movies about new orleans that depict us as "cajun"?...... we do not talk like that, "cher" and "down on da' bayou" do not come out of my mouth first thing in the morning.. just recently "runnaway jury" had dustin haufman sounding like a cival war veteran... I'm sure people in minnasota feel the same way about movies like 'fargo" and philidelphia..... I think rubbing insult to injury was quaid speaking this way( oh yeah and we all name our childeren "remi" too)....

"New Orleans is a dying whore. Naked she sleeps on my floor"

You think you have problems with movie depiction?
Try being a Londoner – or anywhere in GB, for that matter. London is nothing like Notting Hill or Love, Actually. Not everyone is an Oxbridge middle-class media type who lives in a mansion, it rarely snows here at Christmas, and there are a lot of ethnic minorities, and most importantly Greater London is bigger than NYC in terms of geography and population. And it takes a hellava long time from somethere like Kew Gardens to Leicester Square. And everywhere here is a lot more '2006' than in most flyover states in the US. It hasn't been the 1950s here for about 46 years.....

You think you have it bad? Consider yourself lucky you don't live in a part of the country filled with all those inbred cannibals in films these days.

“Well, my days of not takin' you seriously are certainly coming to a middle.”

I don't care if Dennis Quaid's accent is accurate or not. He is flipping hot in this film and the accent and dialog are part of it.

Could not agree with you more buyorsell888!! I have family in So. Louisiana, No., Louisiana, including New Orleans, Bayou here there and everywhere, so jump off your high horse Cajun, it's a MOVIE!! Put some earplugs in and just look at the gorgeousness of Dennis Quaid and I'll bet you'll forget all about dialect!

Come on little pup, stay on the porch and let the big dogs play.

Funny, I have a friend who was born and raised in Baton Rouge. His family was from the bayou originally and his family was Cajun. He said Quaid did a great job with the accent. In fact, he said Quaid nailed it in many ways. And I would dare say there are people from the bayou who live in the city.
