My problem with an unrealistic scene (for a drunk)

Really like this movie, Rourke's performance is golden, although one scene stands out for me as unrealistic.

The scene that I'm talking about is the scene where Chinaski meets Wanda for the first time in a bar.

My problem with this scene is that Henry doesn't finish his beer. He just leaves without it (~half full). It doesn't fit with the alcoholic that he is. I believe that any true drunk would have finished his beer before leaving.

Any thoughts, script error?

I agree, especially since Henry is a drunk, there's no way he would have taken a few sips of that beer then leave half of it unattended.

I had a relative that was a raging alcoholic and they would never leave a drink unfinished. If you had to wait until they downed the rest of a can of beer first, then so be it.

Unfortunately, this is all too common in movies: You'll have a character either leave a drink, take a few puffs of a cigarette, or just take a few bites of food.

I understand if an actor has to shoot several scenes of eating food. It could become quite filling. I guess the same can be said about consuming fluids.

I saw that too. Was waiting for him to chug it or take it out.
