Louis Cyphre = Lucifer...so lazy
Talk about completely giving the plot away with that character's name. So lazy couldn't they have done better?

shareBack then twisty stuff was pretty rare, but now itβs commonplace.
Don't you be lying. You didn't figure it out before the character.

The thing is that I usually don't give a shit about people's name nor do I remember it but like someone said this has become common place, predictably, as it wasn't before. I think Rourke wrote this or has done similar type lame written films.
I didn't think De Niro was so much in the film in the role it was pretty much insignificant and I thought this movie was pretty average almost B. So something like this isn't such a big deal.
I also don't think they were trying to hide it much as if there are hints like in the bible and you're supposed to know but it's up to you if you let yourself be seduced or choose the wrong.
I didn't make out in the beginning that Louis Cyphre = Lucifer. Though I did get a fair idea that he is going to be the devil. But I never guessed that Angel = favourite. So it definitely was a solid trip for me :-)
shareI kind of liked that it was obvious, if only for the line at the end "Even your name is a dime store joke". It's kind of fitting that they portrayed the devil as playing another cheap trick on him that he overlooked until too late.
