Ninjas were everywhere in the 80's. Hell, ninjas, barbarians and aliens practically ruled the entertainment industry. How preposterous to insinuate that this guy doesn't know what a ninja is. Still, funniest line in the movie.
Ha! I thought you were going to follow up your thread title with, "You guys were on Mangrove Island, taking care of the local talent, right!?!"
shareThat's a standard ninja movie trope. It seems that there's always someone who has never heard of ninjas and/or doesn't believe that they still exist today. That trope was even used in the most recent Hollywood ninja movie: Ninja Assassin (2009).
