Guns N Roses on the soundtrack to 'American Ninja 2'

Check out the scene where Armstrong and Jackson are picked up by the two surfer-looking guys who stole their CO's car, and they're driving by the beach (and Jackson, after hearing about the naked girls, says "Oh yeah... I'm definitely gonna like it here."), the music in the background is GNR's 'Move to the City' from the 'Live Like a Suicide'/'GNR Lies' album. Just noticed that the other day, and thought one or two hardcore American Ninja fans would care.

I ain't yer pal, dickface.

Yeah, I could tell it was Guns N Roses when I first saw it in the theater in 87. I even thought to myself, "Wow, Golan and Globus scored a Guns N Roses song for this?" Even as a kid, I knew they specialized in low-budget action films, and was surprised they got the the rights to a GNR song.

The movie came out before Appetite for Destruction so few would have heard of GnR. Although Move to the City is on the GnR Lies album that came out after Appetite, it also featured on their earlier EP, Live Like a Suicide. That was released around the time the movie would have been filming in Dec 86. So it's probably a case where someone at Cannon had the job of trawling the releases of unknown rock bands searching for suitable (and suitably cheap) music to use. They just happened upon something by a band that would soon be big.

Exactly. At the time GNR agreed to provide a track for the movie, it was probably the biggest thing that had happened to them yet.
