Terminator 2

The Ninja hanging from the hood of the car was a precursor to the t-1000 sequence in terminator 2. this in an amazing film by the way - totally worthy of a thorough-some dissertation. the whole genetic engineering section of the script was ahead of its time - though slightly choppy in conveying its message. the first 20 minutes of the film is utterly brilliant however, a perfect blend of comedy and action sequences and choreography. the film totally falls apart in the second act though with the over stated detective sequences and comedic fight scenes. as a result, the whole mood and ambiance of terror and thrill falls apart and loses traction.

i'd love to have interviewed james booth and conway in regards to the script. apparently conway also pitched the story for stallone's 1987 film 'over the top'. i digress, however, considering that this way the last film Boothe wrote , and considering how good 'avenging force' is, i think its worthy of a mention. in addition to this, dudikoff didnt return for part 3. i feel this decision strongly had to do with the execution of this film and the script itself. again - many many many many many great action scenes, ideas and choreography displays with great sound effects editing, music motifs and staging - even the cinematography was brilliant. the film however fails in the execution of its ideas. the last act feels incredibly choppy and inter cut - actually its very rushed. it needed a gradual buildup that pops in the end like a champagne bottle. again, i'd LOVE to interview the people behind it to get a better idea of what actually went on. this script and film in general had a *beep* load of good stuff going for it.
