Help with another film?

There is a movie going around in my mind from when I was little, and I could have sworn it was *batteries not included. I just watched it, and I realize that, though it is a great movie, it's not the one I remember. I was wondering if anyone here might help me with it.

I think it was probably a made for TV movie, sometime in the late 80's or maybe very early 90's. I remember that there were four elderly people, two men and two women, who were really down on their luck. The one scene I remember vividly is early in the movie. They went into a fast food place or a cafeteria and the girl at the register gave them their food for free because she felt sorry for them. Another worker mentioned that the boss would have to take it out of her pay again, and she said she didn't care, or something to that effect. I am pretty sure that the rest of the movie goes on that the four people are helped by aliens or robots. Or maybe it was radiation that gave them some superhuman strength? I could have sworn that it was *batteries not included or a sequel, but there is none. So what am I remembering?

And I'm reasonably sure that it's not Cocoon. I don't think I've ever watched that at all, though from what I've read of it, it sounds like it.
