i remember watching this movie as a kid and thinking it was great. It still is great, i still get that sad icky feeling when i watch it. I know its just a movie, but how could anyone do something that terrible. Jessica Tandy put in a great performance, maked it worth watching.
I know what you mean...I always dread the bit when Carlos smashes the male Fixer... *sob* ---------------------------------------- "We Meanies only take NO for an answer!"
I remember watching this movie EVERY DAY when I was in primary (or maybe even younger) my parents thought I was going mental....hehehe.
I always had respect for the 'male' flying saucer, thought it was cool with the red eyes and all...and still remember having it as an imaginary friend...eheheheh how lame but it shows how well this movie affected the audience. Or at least mental cases like me....hehehe..
I watched this movie when I was really little. The crazy old lady was hilarious. She still thought her sons were 5 year olds and they were in their 40's lol.
My mom is currently getting worse and Jessica Tandy's character reminds me of how my mom is becoming. I thought I was the only one who cried at this "comedy" (I use that term loosely because I don't believe comedies should make you cry [except from stomach pains]).
In fact, I was talking to my cousin tonight about my mom and this movie popped in my head. I was trying to explain this movie to my cousin and started crying. I had to stop a few times to regain my composure and I'm a 45 year old male. I think if you don't cry while watching this movie, you are a robot!
I think the movie's sentimental value overwhelmes the comedy, at least for us "non-robots" who actually have emotions. A true classic that always brings a tear to my eye every time I watch it (it's on HBO right now), *batteries not included says so much more than most people take it for.
