I so agree dirtycow-1 and I very much enjoyed this film over the years too . It's totally in my top five favorites of cute and sentimental movies . I never get tired of this adorable and sweet film . Thanks dirtycow-1 for your subject post .
shareErr, why are you thanking Steven Spielberg? Sure, he was one of the executive producers but Matthew Robins was the man in the director's chair so shouldn't he be the one getting your kudos? I know he isn't iconic like Steven Spielberg but that isn't an excuse if you ask me.
I get annoyed when marketing for films promote involvement from iconic figures in the industry even though their role(s) in the film is to a greater or lesser extent.
For example, when a film is promoted as "Steven Spielberg presents..." while the director is left in the shadows. A good example is 'The Fall' which was promoted as "David Fincher presents..." and many people assumed he directed it (it was in fact the superb Tarsem Singh who sat in the director's chair on that one). Problem with a lot of people is they're not interested in finding out specifics and so can come to the wrong conclusions based on limited marketing information.
I don't deny that Batteries Not Included had a very strong Speilberg influence permeating throughout it, but I certainly noticed elements that were definetly not Spielberg.
Thought I'd write that.
P.S. It is quite a good film, and well aged too in my opinion.
Hovis!
