Taylor as a prisoner of the VC (S1 E2)
In my eyes this sequence is one of the best in the series. It shows the different points of view on the Vietnam War without jugding them. Surely Mr. Reagan would have apreciated a lot more if the movie makers had made look the VC like complete idiots, but they didn't. Thumbs up for that.
Yet there are two points that bug me a bit.
First thing ist that the vietnamese doctor translated the VC plan (to ambush the platoon on fallback [?]) to Taylor. That does not seem very probable to me and it is only messed up because this way Taylor later on had a chance to warn his companions.
What bugs me even more is that the VC officer charges the doctor with Taylor's liquidation. Finally the doctor didn't do it, for good reasons: "My task is to save lifes, not to destroy them", he says (in the dubbed version). A VC officer would have known this and would't have instructed a medic to do the dirty job. This again is only messed up to make it happen that Taylor survived finally the situation.
Any thoughts?
