Hey, 'Samoan', Holodeck is WAY more problematic than THAT!
Yes, the 'explanations' of how Holodeck can provide vast areas to explore do not make any sense, but the 'size of renderings' is the LEAST of its problems. It is a problem, yes, but HOLY COW do you shoot low!
The MAIN problem of holodeck is that it's more perfect than the most perfect video game will be 100 years from now. It is an ABSOLUTELY amazing fantasy-realizing device that NO ONE could keep their greedy paws off for long.
I mean, if you could live a life where EVERY DREAM comes true in the most optimal way possible, how easily could you just make some spreadsheets in a boring office cubicle? HOW EASILY?!
I mean, the temptations of alcohol, video games, drugs, relationships, gambling and so on are ALREADY too powerful for most people to stay away from.
How the heck could ANYONE stay away from 'PERFECT DREAM REALIZER' long enoughb to go through ANY kind of 'academy training' to become ANY 'space cadet'?
Would you rather roam the space in The Enterprise, delivering medical supplies to colonies, correcting orbits of moons and asteroids, and doing that kind of mundane tasks for most of the time (only Q and some others provide a relief and respite)..?
OR!
Would you rather just live in holodeck, where EVERY SINGLE DREAM comes true in as realistic way possible, where you can touch and feel and experience everything as deeply as humanly possible, or at least in a hundred thousand times better than the best computer or video games ever devised?
Which would most people choose, be honest.. which?
Yeah... Holodeck's 'rendering inconsinstencies' or such are TINY POTATOES by comparison to how it would ABSOLUTELY affect most people, societies, planets, all life, and in the end, the whole Universe!
Heck, I am not even sure Q could resist it...
In any case, please, PLEASE raise your mind above the mundane and realize the TRUE implications of this kind of tech... (of which I have only scratched the surface)
