A MEMORABLE QUOTATION?

These lines are spoken by Axel after Pym who is now a member of the British Security Services is seized in Czechoslovakia. They speak together in a garden alone and Pym is effectively turned to the Communist side.

Axel: "In the pursuit of peace we are making too much war. Looking for freedom we are building too many prisons."

Perhaps you can think of some?

I wish I could tell somebody of the pleasure of being well run
Quoted from memory - so it may not be verbatim. But it captures Pym's career and ambition: to cheat those who really trust him.
He is not a communist whether inside a closet or outside
He's just doing what he's best at. And when he can't cheat his teacher (Jack Brotherhood) anymore there is no meaning of life to him....

I rather like this one which Axel addresses to Sir Magnus (Pym) when they meet again in a barn.

AXEL: "We should buy you a white horse and give you India!"
